Trauma Therapy

Many people who come to therapy aren’t sure whether what they experienced “counts” as trauma. Trauma is not defined only by what happened but by how overwhelming, frightening, or unsupported the experience felt at the time — and by how your mind and body adapted in order to cope. Trauma can be sudden and obvious, but it can also be subtle, cumulative, and woven into our early relationships, environments, and ways of surviving. Trauma is, in essence, anything that was too much, too soon, too fast, or happened without enough support.

My approach to trauma therapy focuses on creating a steady, attuned, compassionate space where your experience can unfold safely and at your pace. Healing does not necessarily have to require reliving or retelling painful memories. Instead, it involves supporting your mind, body, and nervous system to gently integrate what has felt overwhelming or fragmented, so the past stops intruding into the present.

Trauma often occurs in moments when we were deeply alone — either physically or emotionally. Healing, in contrast, happens in connection. Through the steadiness of a supportive therapeutic relationship, your nervous system can begin to settle; your story becomes less overwhelming; and the parts of you shaped by past experiences can be met, understood, and integrated.

My role is not to fix you, but to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your own strength, your capacity for choice, and the parts of yourself that have been waiting to be met with compassion. From here, healing becomes not only possible — but deeply transformative.

Trauma therapy counselling space

Trauma may have shaped your past, but it does not have to define your future.
With the right support, your nervous system can find steadiness again, your story can feel less heavy, and the parts of you that learned to survive can begin to soften. Healing does not mean forgetting — it means reclaiming your capacity to choose, to feel, to connect, and to live with greater freedom.

Taking the first step can feel difficult.
If you’d like to ask a question or arrange an initial conversation, I’m here to help.
